Remember That One Time?

Remember that one time I use to write blogs all the time? I will be honest and say that I completely had forgotten about this until someone Googled my name and found pictures that I had used on some of my posts. I feel guilty not updating this for an entire year but life has definitely been speeding up.

Unfortunately I have three core classes this semester that all require writing assignments so my desire to type more will probably be even less but I will make this my new home page in hopes that I try typing something on this rather then facebook.

The New Year

As 2012 begins to wind down and a new year is only hours away, I feel that it is only appropriate to vent a little fustration towards the always sought after resolution that will alter and change the way of life for that goal holder. This is especially annoying in any gym between Jan 2nd-18th. Somehow people think that 46lbs will magically evaporate off their body if they suddenly show up to the gym and do 15 minutes of an elliptical . If this was the case then the previous 364 days  were spent doing what exactly?

This year I am all about setting realistic goal. I figure why shoot for something lofty and become depressed by Feburary when i couldnt follow it. What what might these goals look like? here are just a few...
1. Eat as much as possible
2. Never pass up on an opportunity to take a nap.
3. Laugh more then frown
4. And never think that tomorrow will be better then today: make the most of every moment.

These may seem silly but at least I have a higher chance of keeping them then the 15minute cycle rider looking to turn into a Lance Armstrong. If that is  you, I only wish the best for you. May the new year find you even better then last.

Tis the Season

It has been a very long time since I have last updated this blog. I apologize for the very long delay for those who have actually check...for those of you who haven't notice, pay no attention. Before I start though, I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas!

I find it funny that we are so quick to complain about any inconvenience that we inturpret from our day to day lives. I will admit that I can be one of the worse offenders in this crime. Just the other day my shower ran out of hot water and i thought it was the worst thing in the world. I then realized that i had running water, a change of clothes to be in and a warm house to be protecting me from the 25* snow falls that were happening outside. Rigtht after that I walked down stairs to find the K-Cup coffee maker was not loading in the normal 22 seconds that was perscribed on the box, but rather now nearly a whole 45 seconds.... it was horrible.

As I type on my new Galaxy Notebook 10.1 I am so blessed and thankful for everything and every one i have around me. This is the part where I get a little sappy and say how wonderful it is to be around family for the seasons. It is my goal to always appreciate the little things like family moments before I complain about the unecessary things like a slow coffee maker.

Wishing you all the very best this time of year and that the new year finds you just as well. Hopefully these posts will continue more steadly as I have taken nearly 4 months to get back into it.

That Kind of Day

Ever have one of those that are bad for no particular reason? There is not a specific thing wrong or an event that throws you completely off, it's just THAT DAY.  I fear that one day I might accidentally say something that will really blow it for me. Like that guy at your table who you want to punch in the face everyday but you know that its not socially acceptable.... so you just try and figure out how to spill all the water on to their lap. I am terrified that on a day like this I will end up losing it and, in an effort to reveal how big of an idiot he is, I might end up saying something like "SHUD UP! YOUR NOT COOL AND YOUR SHOULDNT TALK ...EVER!"

Its usually after an event like that where my military grade starts to drop.....as in plunge. One day it might be worth seeing how bad it would be, but as for now I will just keep pretending like I cant hold onto my water glass.

Life's a Beach...

Labor day came and went just as fast as any other weekend here at West Point. I think to myself that coming back will get easier as the years continue but it never does. The only thing that makes it better is coming back with good stories.

There was actually nothing to crazy to report this time. I could maybe mention that we didn't decide where we (Austin & I) were going until about 8pm the night before, but again, that is just part of the fun of it. Having a car, an approved pass, $50, and a will to leave can get you a long way- or in our case, to Jersey. Dad called up a classmate of his and asked if we could crash the weekend with them on their beach house in New Jersey. I'm not sure what Dad told him to let us come but it worked.

Austin and I drove down early (11am) Saturday morning after finishing a crossfit workout. As usually, it took Austin till we reached the gate of West Point before he was passed out snoring in the seat next to me. We ended hitting some traffic on the way down but nothing to crazy. Still had enough time to play on the beach and enjoy the refreshing water. Pretty much the same thing the next day except this time we pulled out the boogie boards and skim boards. The skim boards were much more fun when we were younger and less inclined to feel pain. Something about jumping on a slippery, wet, 2x4 while running full speed just doesn't seem as fun after the 3rd or 4th time of stubbing your toe.

All in all it was a great time with plenty of fun memories. I will try and upload pictures when I get a chance. Right now my one plebe is knee deep in figuring out how to be a CiC for calling minutes....oh the days..
